This study aims to optimize the construction methods for pervious concrete to achieve maximum compressive strength and enhanced water permeability for efficient use in permeable pavements. The research investigates the effects of different aggregate compositions and gradations on the mechanical and hydraulic properties of pervious concrete. Specifically, two types of gradations were evaluated: (1) gradations based on the ACI 522R-10 guidelines (89-8-7), and (2) a special-ized uniform gradation with particle sizes ranging between 2.36 mm and 4.75 mm.

The study assessed diverse aggregate combinations and construction methods with the goal of simultaneously improving compressive strength and permeability. The results indicated that the use of uniform gradation, particularly within the specified range, significantly enhanced com-pressive strength while maintaining adequate water permeability. All experiments were conduct-ed using the most optimized mix designs, and the comparison of gradations and construction methods revealed notable differences in mechanical properties and water permeability.

This optimization in aggregate composition and construction methodology improved the performance of pervious concrete for use in permeable pavements. The findings demonstrated its effectiveness in managing surface water and mitigating urban flood risks. Additionally, the re-search provides valuable insights for engineers and urban infrastructure designers, enabling the economical application of pervious concrete with optimal performance and durability.

This study offers a practical guide for the implementation of pervious concrete, ensuring its potential as a sustainable and efficient solution for urban water management and resilient infra-structure development.
